What to Expect

Are you looking to explore careers in manufacturing?

The 16 and 17-year-old high school students involved in these programs are exposed to each area of the shop to become familiar with the different manufacturing services UMC offers.

They rotate through everything from milling, turning, mill/turn and swiss machining to inspection, de-burring, and polishing as they learn to operate machines and perform the duties in different areas of precision machining. They also tour other facilities to learn about the entire supply chain and the wide range of opportunities in manufacturing.

My job shadow at UMC was good and I loved walking around and seeing all the different places. They also have a gym in the work building which is pretty cool. All the people that I had the opportunity to talk to were very nice and had great information!
