Chief Executive OfficerDon has spent the past 25 years building and directing the operations at UMC. He believes that the cornerstone of UMC’s success is its culture, and Don understands the importance of an energized vision and well-articulated values in the success of an organization. In addition to helping drive growth and continuous improvement for UMC’s customers, Don is also passionate about UMC’s community involvement and contributions. The company historically donates 4% of profits to local and national nonprofit organizations that are making a positive impact, especially in the areas of education and training. Don is a strong advocate for family-owned businesses and the role they play in strengthening our communities and the economy.

Sarah Sundine
Chief Operations OfficerSarah Sundine has extensive knowledge and experience in quality engineering, new product launches, and both project and people management. She has a proven track record of organizing and advancing initiatives ranging from highly technical to culture and employee-oriented. Sarah’s background in quality methodologies, statistical process control, quality engineering, and her understanding of customer requirements fit seamlessly with UMC’s vision and will propel UMC’s continued growth and technical advancement in the precision parts industry.
Sarah holds a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from Michigan Tech, a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the University of Michigan Dearborn, and a Project Management Professional Certification from PMI. She has a storied history of active volunteerism in Women of Today, holding titles of President and State Program Manager, Association of Women in the Metal Industries, as a Board Member, and has championed multiple fundraising efforts for various causes.

John Bozich
Director of Sales and Business DevelopmentJohn Bozich has over 30 years of experience in manufacturing and business development. He brings extensive technical knowledge as both an engineer and product manager to UMC, where he leads a sales team of six in responsive, respectful, and clear communications with customers. John was raised in a small Northern Minnesota town where “your word was all you had,” a value he sees exemplified at UMC and foundational to his approach in sales and business development.
John holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology with a focus on Technical Illustration and Graphic Design from Bemidji State. He designed, developed, and patented the Multi-Stage clip used in 25,000+ spine surgeries as well as a zero excess footprint socket that won Semiconductor International’s Best Product Award. John is also a Certified Partner of the Predictive Index talent optimization platform. In his free time, John dedicates himself to mentoring youth at his local church.

Bryan Buch
Director of ManufacturingBryan Buch has over 25 years of experience in manufacturing, machining, and production management in medical device, aerospace and defense industries. Bryan leads UMC’s strategies for everything between engineering and the customer including manufacturing scheduling, supply chain, and production.
In the first years of Bryan’s career he remembers thinking of UMC, “This is how you do manufacturing, engage with your workforce and create trust.” Now in leadership at UMC, Bryan’s driving force is to “be the leader that I would want to work for” by developing people who know their work is important, integrity paramount, and growth encouraged.
Bryan earned his certification in Machining Trades from Anoka Technical College. He is currently completing his Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Bryan is invested in youth development, mentoring, and engaging the next generation of manufacturing experts from early ages.

Scott Peterson
Director of Automation and FacilitiesScott has dedicated over 40 years to precision manufacturing and automaton of complex parts. His experience in various roles such as Project Manager, Design Engineer, Applications Engineer, and Senior Quality Engineer gives him the background to skillfully guide UMC’s automation strategy. Scott’s education in LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma, and Statistics help him ensure the facility, equipment, and automation can deliver a superior product at a competitive price. He enjoys challenging his team to drive best-in-class manufacturing through every avenue, from facility and process design to equipment selection.

Dick Salonek
Director of FinanceDick merges his 25+ years of finance and accounting experience with a passion for continuous learning and technology. Dick’s oversight helps UMC stay on the cutting edge with strategic investments while maintaining control of key business metrics that drive financial stability and growth. Dick holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from St. John’s University, a Certification of Management Accountant from the Institute of Management Accountants and Mini-Masters in LEAN and Strategic Planning from the University of St. Thomas.
