Inspection Technician

Job Summary

The Inspection Technician is responsible for the inspection and disposition products using coordinate measuring machine, hand tool instruments and visual check the parts to ensure products are consistent with established standard, customer specifications and production goals.

Essential Functions

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Inspection Technician consist of but are not limited to:

  • Load and operate CMMs & VCMMs
  • Perform daily inspections based on customer prints, at all stages of production
  • Ensure product compliance with quality system and customer requirements
  • Collect, record, maintain and electronically store inspection records
  • Record observations and report findings
  • Participate in investigation and root cause analysis
  • Able to read drawings and understand of GD&T
  • Exhibits a working knowledge of health and safety, responsible for safety awareness, while upholding and improving the culture of safety within the organization.  Identify opportunities for improvement and report potential hazards, unsafe working conditions, unsafe equipment, unsafe acts, near misses and injuries immediately
  • Other tasks as assigned


  • Minimum Requirements – High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two-year certificate or degree in related technical field a plus
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience working in quality inspection in a manufacturing environment; medical device preferred
  • Experience with automated inspection systems preferred


  • Ability to express ideas, share information, listen actively and demonstrate professionalism in written and verbal communications
  • Adheres to UMC Quality Standards
  • Ensure all internal and external customers receive positive service experiences
  • Promotes a sense of urgency to expedite work though area while maintain an excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to use and read inspection tools and equipment (calipers, rulers, pin gages, micrometers, etc.)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Able to make effective and timely decisions
  • Work independently and efficiently with minimal instruction and supervision
  • Able to work both independently and as a team
  • Proficient in various computer software applications such as Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)
