CMM Technician

Job Summary

The Coordinated Measuring Machine (CMM) Technician provides automated inspection support to production, quality, engineering and other areas.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

The primary duties and responsibilities of the CMM Technician consist of but are not limited to:

  • Load and operate CMMs and VCMMs
  • Perform calibration for probes on the CMMs
  • Maintain data collection in accordance with established UMC processes
  • Clearly identify and process nonconforming product in accordance with established UMC processes
  • Perform Gage R&R and process capability studies with over-site from Senior CMM Technician
  • Communicate constraints and issues to Senior CMM Technician
  • Visual acuity and fine motor dexterity
  • Frequent use of hands and upper extremities in fine and gross manipulation with parts
  • Prolonged standing/walking ranging from 4-10 hours as needed for inspection task
  • Lifting Requirements: 40 LBS
  • Must be able to meet customer demand requirements for performing visual inspection and/or other product acceptance activities with or without accommodation
  • Exhibit a working knowledge of health and safety, responsible for safety awareness, while upholding and improving the culture of safety within the organization.   Identify opportunities for improvement and take action if appropriate, before a problem occurs.  Report potential hazards, unsafe working conditions, unsafe equipment, unsafe acts, and injuries immediately
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum Requirements – High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with automated inspection systems preferred

Accountabilities

  • Completion of automated inspection activities in accordance with established UMC processes and schedule
  • Perform to established production standards and regulations
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures at all times

Authorities

  • Stop the machine or process if safety, quality, or productivity standards are compromised
  • Ability to stop the process and ask for clarification if unclear
  • Ability to recommend changes for improvement
