Cleanroom, Work Holding and Parts Cleaning
Cleanroom
Cleanroom - our class 10,000 modular cleanroom compliments our manufacturing and part cleaning experience.
With prototype, machining, and finishing capabilities, UMC could be your "one shop" answer to your next medical project.
Parts cleaning
With an in-house reverse osmosis / D.I water treatment system, paired up with automated robotic parts washers,
UMC's progressive parts cleaning is unmatched in the industry.
Work Holding at UMC
It is safe to say that work holding can be the difference between success and failure.
To machine tough high temperature alloys rigidity in work holding is very important.
Each part can present its own difficulty ranging from irregular shaped castings and forgings to thin wall delicate parts.
Couple this with the above mentioned material and you have what we call an "opportunity".
At UMC work holding is one of the most important factors when quoting and/or planning on how to run a part. It will directly affect how and how fast you can remove material. We use many different approaches to work holding problems from hydraulic expanding mandrels to materials that can be "cast" around the part in a "can" that then will be used to hold the part in the machine. Many times work holding problems that involve heavy load time can be offset by using offline loading and quick change fixtures. Other times using the bar stock itself can provide the solution.
At UMC we have many multiple axis machines. When it makes sense, we use this technology to machine as much as possible in one part load to reduce future part loading and its associated baggage. (I.E. accuracy, orientation between features, long load time, and errors related to cleanliness of locating surfaces, etc...) Many problems of past years solved with necessary, expensive, elaborate, and creative fixtures can now be solved with this technology. By monitoring and adjusting the machining sequence in the part program, many hard-tooled solutions of the past can now be as simple as a program change. At UMC, we see this as both a solution to work holding as well as remaining flexible for our customers ever changing needs.
