UMC has a long-standing machine tool apprenticeship program, which has steadily grown over the past several years. UMC apprenticeships allow individuals who are either going into or just finishing their first year at a two-year technical school to follow a twelve-week program in each area of the shop to become familiar with the different manufacturing services UMC offers. They rotate through everything from milling, turning, mill/turn and swiss machining to inspection, de-burring, and polishing as they learn to operate and perform the duties in different areas of precision machining.
UMC also participates in the Wright Technical Center Youth Apprenticeship program. This program creates an opportunity for a high school student to work at UMC after school and to spend the summer rotating through the shop, much like the machine tool apprentices.
With our broad precision manufacturing capabilities, value-added services, and integrated systems and processes, we provide our customers with complete support and leverage best practices to ensure maximized yield, speed and cost.
We're looking to fully staff our weekend shift with EDM, Swiss, Mill, Turn, and M/T machinists and are offering some exciting incentives.
