Apprenticeship Program

What Can You Expect in an Apprenticeship at UMC?

UMC apprenticeships allow individuals who are either going into or just finishing their first year at a two-year technical school to follow a robust work plan to learn different aspects of the job.

Apprentices are exposed to everything from milling, turning, mill/turn and swiss machining to inspection, de-burring, and polishing as they learn to operate and perform the duties in different areas of precision machining.

We have a growing apprenticeship program.

UMC apprenticeships allow individuals who are either going into or just finishing their first year at a two-year technical school to follow a twelve-week program in each area of the shop to become familiar with the different manufacturing services UMC offers. They rotate through everything from milling, turning, mill/turn and swiss machining to inspection, de-burring, and polishing as they learn to operate and perform the duties in different areas of precision machining.

UMC also participates in the Wright Technical Center Youth Apprenticeship program. This program creates an opportunity for a high school student to work at UMC after school and to spend the summer rotating through the shop, much like the machine tool apprentices.

UMC is always accepting applications for its apprenticeship program. If you are interested in an apprenticeship at UMC please email us at hr@ultramc.com
